Es gab ein Leben vor Crystal Logic! Die Meister und Erfinder des Subgenre „Epic Metal“ Manilla Road sind weltweit für ihre Werke wie Open The Gates, The Deluge oder die zuvor (als Re-Issue bei Golden Core erschienene) genannte LP/CD bekannt und werden nicht nur von Fans, sondern auch von namhaften Musikern und Bands regelrecht gehuldigt. Bis 1983 war man eine lokale Band im beschaulichen Wichita in Kansas und veröffentlichte die ersten beiden LPs „Invasion“ und „Metal“ in Eigenregie auf dem bandeigenen Label Roadster Records. Die Original Vinyls sind heute gesuchte Raritäten und wurden bisher nie adäquat auf CD veröffentlicht.
