This neat, uncommon, Japanese Naval mail(GUNKANYUBIN) was sent on March 12, 1927from a Japanese sailor serving aboard the Chikuma-class, protected cruiser, H.I.J.M. "Hirado!" The ship was operating out of Tsingtau(a.k.a. Aoshima in Japanese), China, at the time of writing. The mail was actually cancelled upon its arrival in Nagasaki, Japan. The addressee was kin in Yamaguchi Prefecture, Japan.

To continue, outside of having 3-4 perfs cut off upon the mail being opened, the red, 3-Sen Japanese definitive, is in pretty good condition. Admittedly, the CDS from the Nagasaki P.O. is rather light/faded.

Lastly, as for the envelope, itself, it's in quite good condition. It's pretty clean, but has been reduced at the top. The back flap is intact. Noted imperfections aside, this remains a nifty piece of Imperial Japanese Naval postal history connected to the H.I.J.M. "Hirado," and the Japanese presence in Tsingtau, China!
