I Saw the Light was the lead single for Hanky Panky, the fifth studio album by English band The The, released on 14 February 1995. It consists of cover versions by The The leader Matt Johnson of songs by country singer Hank Williams Sr. 

Johnson's backing band features members of the David Bowie project, Tin Machine.
