Rich wonderful records sometimes come in perplexing packages, and somewhere near the top of that list must be the dizzying Dysnomia. Here, a Brooklyn group with an EDM-styled name that's shaped like a jazz trio (piano, standup bass, and drums) plays music in the minimalist style of classical composers Glass, Reich, and Adams, but there are inflections right out of the world of indie rock, with drumbeats shooting out unexpectedly and dramatically. Dance music is an influence too, as this is a minimalist joint to shake your hips to, and most tracks build into grand, trance-inducing whirlwinds, making a random needle drop unrepresentative of the album's power. Strap in, tune out, tap your feet, and let the loops take over.
