Madonna – CD Single Collection (1996) Warner Music Japan – WPDR-3100⁓3139 40xCD
Very rare Japanese-only 8½" x 8" x 4" deluxe black glossy clam shell box
with red titles, contains 40 Japanese 3" CDs in 3" x 3" paper picture
sleeves and a 38-page book containing track listings and lyrics of each
title song in both Japanese and English.
The box was released in a custom-size PVC sleeve with the right edges folded and sealed with simple adhesive tape.
A red sticker with white graphics in Japanese states the retail price at 21,000 Japanese Yen and the bar code.
Also
included are the Japanese-only singles "Love Don't Live Here Anymore"
(released in 1985) and "Spotlight" (released in 1988).
Every single
contains the artwork used in the Japanese releases, some of which are
unique to that market and were not used on the international releases.
Many early CDs are in unique sleeves.
Each
sleeve is a very simple thin paper sleeve with no spine, flat, and the
back only has the track listing and writing credits, nothing more, same
graphics for all sleeves, nothing customized. Inside each sleeve, the
disc is housed in an inner sleeve made of clear plastic (front) and soft
frabric (back).
Warner Music Japan decided to release this box
set to commemorate Madonna's single success in Japan. The 3"CD format
was shortly to be terminated by Warner in that country and is now a very
rare format.
